Spectro Inlets Delivers EC-MS Premium to MIT’s Team Led by Professor Yang Shao-Horn!

EC-MS Premium system delivered to MIT for Professor Yang Shao-Horn's research team

Spectro Inlets delivered and installed an EC-MS Premium system at MIT for the research team led by Professor Yang Shao-Horn. R&D Engineer Spiros Divanis and Production Engineer Gabriel Kroch led an on-site training session for the MIT team, including postdoc Davide Menga, to get the group up and running with real-time gas analysis for their electrochemistry research.

Faraday case study: Researchers collaborate with Spectro Inlets

A case study from the Faraday Institution profiles the collaboration between Spectro Inlets and Imperial College London (Dr. Daisy Thornton, Prof. Ifan Stephens, Prof. Mary Ryan, Dr. Ainara Aguadero) that produced a new EC-MS cell for non-aqueous lithium-ion battery electrolytes. The cell captures 100% of analyte species and offers roughly two orders of magnitude higher sensitivity to gases like oxygen and hydrogen than existing options, helping researchers pin down battery degradation mechanisms. It’s now sold commercially in Europe and the US, including to Johnson Matthey, with pouch-cell and solid-state battery holders in development.
